Former Chelsea midfielder and manager Frank Lampard has given an exciting prediction for Manchester United ahead of the new 2021-22 season.
Speaking about which teams could finish top of the table come the end of next season, the ex-England international feels fans would be doing the Red Devils a disservice not to expect them to be among the league’s title contenders.
The Red Devils, led by club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have recruited heavily already this summer.
After signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane’s official unveiling imminent, big things are expected from the United faithful next season.
One person who believes United will enjoy a successful campaign next time out is Lampard, who when speaking to Sky Sports, suggested the club’s summer transfer business could prove to be decisive.
“I think you can’t discount Manchester United,” Lampard said. “They were not far-off last year and have gone again and I think brought in really impressive signings and I think Liverpool will be the same.
“They missed huge players through injury for a big part of last season and the year before they were one of the best teams we’ve seen in the Premier League, so you definitely can’t discount those.”
🗣”It makes for an exciting season.”
