Hampered with injuries for several seasons now, Phil Jones’ Manchester United career looks to be coming to a sorry end. However, hope could be on the horizon for the Englishman as according to recent reports, David Moyes is keen to work with the defender at West Ham United. However, approaching the centre-back’s fitness history with caution, it has been claimed that the Hammers would like to offer Jones an unusual contract.
That’s according to a recent report by Eurosport, who claims that in order to free up space among their squad, the Red Devils are willing to allow Jones to leave on a free transfer this summer.
United have just announced that they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for defender Raphael Varane and Jones is expected to be one of the first names axed to accommodate the side’s new 2018 World Cup winner.
Eurosport also claims that although Moyes is keen to work with Jones again, following his stint as manager from 2013 to 2014, the Scot would prefer to offer the defender an incentivised contract.
Given the fact, Jones has started just two Premier League matches in the last 12-months, signing him is risky and in an attempt to protect themselves, the Hammers would prefer to offer Jones a contract that includes ‘enticing’ appearance add ons.
