Tahith Chong left out of Man Utd squad v QPR due to impending move

Tahith Chong has been left out of the Manchester United squad to face Queens Park Rangers later this afternoon due to an impending loan move to Birmingham, according to reports.

Chong’s season-long loan to Lee Bowyer’s side was confirmed earlier this summer but it was reported that the Dutchman would spend part of this summer’s pre-season with Manchester United before joining his new club.

Chong, who spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen and Club Brugge, started and scored in United’s 2-1 win over Derby last week but is absent today because he has linked up with his new side.

That’s according to Manchester Evening News journalist Rich Fay, who confirms that Chong has now officially joined Birmingham for the rest of the campaign.

Chong’s future at Manchester United remains in the balance after two underwhelming loan spells. The 21-year-old will have just one year remaining on his contract upon his return to the club next year.
