28-year-old star insists he is ‘really happy’ at Manchester United

Alex Telles has insisted that he is ‘really happy’ to be back at Manchester United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side prepares to play their first of five pre-season fixtures.

Manchester United’s first game, against Derby on Sunday, is a reunion with Wayne Rooney who took full charge of the club earlier this year and successfully avoided relegation, having been sat in the relegation zone for several months prior to his appointment.

Retrospective relegation loomed over the club after the end of the season but Derby were eventually spared the embarrassment and instead handed a minor points deduction.

Telles is expected to feature in the game and has spoken out on his first pre-season at the club – the 28-year-old arrived on deadline day last year.

“I’m really happy to be back here,” Telles told ManUtd.com. “It’s a pleasure to be at Manchester United coming into my second season.

“Last season, we came really close to winning trophies, so we go into this next season with a lot of desire and I really want to show my work and my value here at the club.

“I’m really looking forward to the game, I’m going into the game with a lot of desire. I think it’s a really great opportunity for us players who have been here for the last two weeks.

“It’s going to be a tough test but we’re really well prepared for it. We’ve been working really hard in training today, and this last week, and I believe it’s an opportunity to show my value my quality and my potential here at Manchester United.

“I know Manchester United Football Club and the fans really believe in me.”

Telles has been linked with a move away from the club this summer amid Luke Shaw’s dominance in his position but if these quotes are anything to go by, the former Porto man has no intentions to actively seek a move.
