Raphael Varane chooses to join Man Utd, transfer could be done within days

Jadon Sancho still takes the crown for the longest saga of the summer but Raphael Varane’s potential move to Manchester United is a clear second place. The defender is one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main targets this summer and is seemingly keen to challenge himself in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract at Real Madrid and with the Spanish club reluctant to let him go on a free transfer next year, a deal this summer seems plausible.

And according to reports, there have been big developments as Varane has chosen to join Manchester United this summer, as opposed to committing to a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

That’s according to journalist Jorge Calabres, via Sport Witness, who also claims that if an acceptable offer is made for Varane, which is expected soon, the France international could become a Manchester United player within days.

Varane is a longstanding target for the club, having initially sounded out the former Lens defender ten years ago during his time in France. Sir Alex Ferguson was keen on signing him back then but was unable to match Real Madrid’s appeal.
