Axel Tuanzebe’s two seasons under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have not gone to plan due to injuries – the 23-year-old came through the ranks at the club with great promise but has had his short career blighted by injuries.

Tuanzebe has captained Manchester United on all levels, including senior, but has been restricted to few appearances at the club in recent years. He spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Aston Villa, helping the Birmingham club achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa have been told that Manchester United are ready to let Tuanzebe go if they can find a replacement. The news has been welcomed by former Villa defender Alan Hutton, who said that the return of Tuanzebe would be a ‘great signing’.

“I think he’d be a great signing,” Hutton told Football Insider. “I really liked him as a player but not just that, as a guy as well. He took a little bit of time to settle in coming from Manchester United to come into our group.

“Obviously he came through the levels at United so it took him a bit of time to adjust but when he did, wow. He had pace, he had strength, good ability on the ball.

“Not only could he play centre-half, he could play right-back so he fills a couple of positions. He’s very young and he’s going to get better.”

Tuanzebe, who did not play international football this summer, is expected to be heavily involved in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pre-season preparations.
