Raphael Varane €60m price tag creates sticking point in Manchester United talks

Real Madrid find themselves in a sticky situation. In order to fund Carlo Ancelotti’s squad rebuild they need to sell…

Many of us hope that Manchester United benefit from that by completing a deal to sign Raphael Varane, with the centre-back reportedly keen on a new challenge after winning it all during his 10-years at Real Madrid.

United are in desperate need of a top-class addition at centre-back to partner Harry Maguire, who has performed superbly at the Euros thus far, and there’s optimism building within the fanbase that he can replicate those performances as United captain.

The Telegraph claims United have been in dialogue with Real Madrid over Varane as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer demands a centre-back after securing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

It is reported that Real Madrid want at least €60m (£51.7m) for Varane, who is in the final 12 months of his contract and has given his present club no encouragement that he will agree to new terms.

Respected journalist James Ducker went on to claim United consider that excessive given Varane’s contract situation – and that any further transfer deals will have to represent good value. The club must be hurt already after seeing Sergio Ramos’ contract expire (Fabrizio Romano claims the Spaniard is set for Paris).

  1. Firstly, if Varane has gone on a 3 week holiday and will only discuss his situation with Real Madrid on his return (as the media have suggested), then United need to move on NOW. He will know if he wants to move and Madrid have had time to try and engage him in an improved contract.
Secondly, Madrid want to loan / but Diogo Dalot – HIS PRICE JUST INCREASED BY 15 MILLION EURO’S.
