Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has given fans an optimistic verdict on his first-team chances ahead of next season.

Tuanzebe, 23, joined United’s illustrious youth academy all the way back in 2005.

Since climbing his way through the club’s youth ranks, the young English centre-back, with the help of a successful loan spell at Aston Villa, has gone on to become a senior squad member.

During what has been his first real season in and around the first team, last season saw Tuanzebe put in a stunning performance against Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League group stage.

However, as other first-choice defenders returned from injury, since his excellent display in Paris, the 23-year-old found his playing time restricted again.

Speaking recently to the club’s official website, Tuanzebe has lifted the lid on what he expects from next season.

“Being 23 now, I want to be playing week in, week out,” he said. “I’ve had a taste of it, being at [Aston] Villa [on loan]. I enjoyed it. That’s something I wanted to replicate here.

“I haven’t had the run of games that I’ve hoped for, but, next season, I’ll definitely be playing football.

“When I was on loan, the pressure was obviously different. Not to say that Villa aren’t a big club, but you know, Man United are top of the top and the fans expect something.

“Even ourselves, we expect performances week in, week out, we expect wins week in, week out – no matter who the opponent is.

“You just need to understand that and take it from there really.”

The Premier League have recently released the full fixture list for the up and coming 2021-22 season.

The Red Devils will return to action n August 14th where they will host bitter-rivals Leeds United in their first domestic clash.
