Gareth Southgate to snub all of his Man United players against Croatia

Gareth Southgate is set to snub all of the Manchester United players at his disposal as he prepares for England’s opening group game of Euro 2020. Harry Maguire has been ruled out of the game, despite returning from injury, but Dean Henderson, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw are all set to be dropped, according to reports.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have leaked the England team just hours before they kick off against Croatia.

Despite having two left-backs, who both played in European finals in the last week of their club seasons, the England manager is set to play Kieran Trippier on the left side of defence.

Marcus Rashford is also set to be overlooked, despite being one of the squad’s most experienced players and captaining the side in their last fixture, with Raheem Sterling preferred to the United winger.

The curious case remains at left-back, however, with both Ben Chilwell and Luke Shaw missing out. Kieran Trippier, who is one of Southgate’s favourites, has been linked with a move to Manchester United but an appearance on the left would be rare at Old Trafford.

Shaw’s resurgence is one of the stories of the season and considering the quality in his position, Southgate is set to scrutinized over his decision.
