Manchester United have been given a boost in their chase of Kieran Trippier as the defender reportedly tells teammates he’s keen on a move back to the north-west. Trippier has been a target for Solskjær for a long time and the former Manchester City youth product might be ready to leave Spain.
Trippier is taking part in pre-Euro preparations with England and started at left-back when England overcame a resilient Austria side on Tuesday. And according to The Mirror, the 30-year-old has ‘let slip’ to his international teammates that he’s keen on a move to United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær has wanted competition in all positions since he took over late in 2018 and signing Trippier would be the latest proof of that, having already brought in Alex Telles to challenge Luke Shaw.
Trippier has been a key figure for Atletico Madrid in their title-winning season, featuring 28 times in the league and providing an assist on 6 occasions. He is one of four right-backs to have been picked in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka was left out.
It’s believed that any potential deal to sign Kieran Trippier would not hurt Manchester United’s pockets all that much, as reports claim that there is belief that the Old Trafford club can secure his signature for £15 million.
