A number of Manchester United players were in action for their countries on Wednesday as they prepared for action at this summers Euro’s. Jesse Lingard started against Austria despite not being picked to go to the Euro’s and impressed.

England struggled on their visit to the Riverside Stadium but overcame a resilient Austria side to win 1-0. Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the game as the Three Lions made a winning start to preparations. No other United players were involved for England after an extended break due to their involvement in the Europa League final.

Daniel James’ Wales were given a losing hand early on with defender Neco Williams controversially sent off after just 26 minutes. Karim Benzema missed the resulting penalty after a handball but Daniel James was the standout performer for Wales. Having been pinned back for most of the proceedings, James offered an out-ball and showed his capabilities in an unusual role. Dylan Levitt came on for the final 30 minutes and showcased a bulk in physique, contesting a number of duels.

On the winning side of that game was Paul Pogba. The Frenchman lasted 63 minutes before being rested as France ran out 3-0 winners.

Scott McTominay’s Scotland side succumbed to a late 2-2 draw with Donny van de Beek’s Holland, but the pair were both unused substitutes. Holland coach Frank de Boer made six substitutions in the loss but could not find any space for the United midfielder.

Former United winger Memphis Depay scored both goals for the Dutchmen, including a 90th-minute equalizer to deny McTominay’s side the win.
