Bruno Fernandes – The man that makes Manchester United tick

When Bruno Fernandes first arrived at Manchester United some had their doubts. Unproven in the Premier League and with only a few good seasons at Sporting Lisbon under his belt, few if any could have foreseen the impact Fernandes would have at Old Trafford and fast forward to the present day and he finds himself being one of the first names on the team sheet and in integral part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting eleven.

In what has been a tremendous 18 months or so at club, Fernandes has fast become one of the finest midfielders in European football. His ability to not only score goals but provide them as well makes him a real special talent and is one which has made himself a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

With Fernandes you get more than just goals and assists. His sublime dribbling and excellent defence un locking passes has made him arguably United’s best player and nobody can take the two Sir Matt Busby player of the year awards he has to his name.

Fernandes is a player who you cannot help but feel excited whenever the ball arrives at his feet. You always feel something is going to happen whether it’s a trick, long range pass, shot or even a goal you always feel something special is going to happen and there are few players who can give you that feeling.

It would be hard to pinpoint Fernandes finest hour this season, but if there was one moment which the Portuguese showed his true class it would probably be against Everton in the Premier League at Old Trafford where from just outside the edge of the box he coolly and calmly lofted the ball over Robin Olsen and into the back of the net. It was a goal that showed his real class and one was named United’s goal of the season.

Few players have had such an instant impact like Fernandes has done at Manchester United and the scary thing is that he is still only 26-years of age with his best years yet to come, and if Fernandes can repeat or even better what he did last season then he could prove to be the difference in the Reds winning the Premier League title next season.

  1. We look forward to seeing him turning up more in high profile games wherein he seems to have the tendency of going missing for whatever reason.
