Manchester United confirm Teden Mengi’s return from Derby County

Teden Mengi has returned to Manchester United for treatment on a hamstring injury that will unfortunately keep him out for the remainder of the season.

The 18-year-old had been enjoying himself playing under United’s all-time record goalscorer, Wayne Rooney, with the Rams but sustained a hamstring injury whilst training with the club.

Mengi began the recovery process with his loan club over the week but has returned to United to continue his rehab at United’s training HQ, Carrington.

After starting five of the previous seven games for Derby, Mengi will be a big loss to Rooney’s side and we are sure he made a good enough impression to be wanted back at the club next season.

Rooney confirmed the news during Monday’s press conference. He also gave his own verdict on the European Super League.

“Teden will miss the rest of the season and go back to Manchester from today,” Rooney said, as quoted by the official Manchester United website. “He has been fantastic for us and we’ve seen him grow with each game.

“We will keep in contact with United and Teden about next season.

“It’s not too serious but he will not recover in time to play again.”

Mengi should be looking to gain more experience on loan next season because all reports suggest he was a big addition at Derby.
