Sunday has brought with it one of, if not the, biggest football story this side of the century. It has been shockingly confirmed that 12 of Europe’s ‘biggest clubs’ are set to form a European Super League (ESL), as per Sky Sports News.

The news that six of England’s biggest (wealthiest) clubs have decided to form an ESL reached fans earlier in the afternoon. Poorly timed too, actually.

Prior to half-time in the Red Devils’ clash against Burnley, fans were left totally distracted after learning the face of football is set to change, forever.

Fans have been quick to condemn the plans with social media rife with negative reactions.

While the finer details are still to be confirmed and laid out – as the news filters through, reports in Italy have suggested the newly formed ESL could start in just over three months time.

Following these latest claims, here is how some fans have reacted on Twitter.
