Declan Rice keen on Manchester United transfer

Manchester United are in the market for a midfielder and Declan Rice has been in touch with players to ask about the club.

That much comes from the Manchester Evening News, with leading reporter Samuel Luckhurst claiming Rice asked United players about the club during the England national team’s World Cup qualifiers last month.

Dean Henderson, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were on international duty at the time, while Marcus Rashford has to pull out due to an injury.

On top of that, Rice is obviously spending more time than usual with Jesse Lingard, with the Manchester United midfielder currently on loan at West Ham.

As revealed in the latest Strettycast, United have already held talks with West Ham over a move for Rice, which suddenly prompted Lingard’s loan move to London. Webby and Tony O’Neill told us that Lingard is missing the north and spends many of his days off back in Manchester.

The MEN go on to suggest United have been tracking Rice for more than two years, with United scouts sharing the view that the defensive midfielder could develop into a box-to-box player.

West Ham will likely try to sign Lingard in the summer and that could play into United’s hands if Solskjaer is serious about wanting Rice added to the squad.
