Manchester United are reportedly in talks to sign Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic who is expected to be available for £30m.
Milenkovic, 23, has been with Fiorentina since 2017 after he transferred from Partizan Belgrade in a deal worth just £4.95m.
During the young defender’s four-years in Italy, Milenkovic has seen his stock rise among some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
After making 120 appearances for Fiorentina in all competitions, not only has Milenkovic put in a number of impressive defensive performances, the Serbian defender also boasts a very decent attacking record.
Despite playing for a side that is predominantly defensively minded and resigned to the bottom half of the Serie A table, Milenkovic has been directly involved in 11 goals (10 goals, one assist) so far this season.
However, in light of Fiorentina’s underwhelming on-field achievements, there have been suggestions their highly-rated defender could be set for a move that better reflects his talent.
There have been recent reports linking the 23-year-old with several top European clubs, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils.
The latest in the ongoing saga comes from transfer journalist Constantin Eckner, who claims United are now in talks with Milenkovic’s representatives.
Yes, they are, though his camp talks to other clubs as well. One incentive is that Milenković offers about as much quality as other candidates, but the transfer fee would ‘only’ be around £30m. #MUFC https://t.co/XgQJN2WHf2

Eckner claims that the big appeal with Milenkovic is the fact he offers as much quality as many other top defenders but would be available for just £30m.
In light of these latest claims, Stretty News reached out to a source close to the player who revealed that United’s interest in Milenkovic is not as strong as some of Italy’s biggest clubs.
We understand that Serie A trio Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli are all currently battling it out to secure the defender, who will soon enter the last year in his contract.
