Man United expected to give two more youth stars first-team opportunities

Manchester United’s coaching staff are reportedly preparing to give young stars Hannibal Mejbri and Joe Hugill opportunities to impress in the first-team next season.

Both youngsters are enjoying brilliant campaigns for the club’s youth sides.

Mejbri, 18, has featured in 18 under-23s matches in all competitions so far this season and has been directly involved in an impressive 11 goals.

Elsewhere, striker Hugill, 17, who only joined from Sunderland’s academy last summer is also in inspired form.

After featuring in 21 youth matches in all competitions, Hugill has racked up a whopping 16 goals and three assists.

The two youngster’s impressive development has reportedly prompted the Red Devils’ decision-makers to consider awarding them both with first-team game-time.

According to a recent report from Eurosport, United are set to promote both youngsters next season with current midfielder Donny van de Beek also expected to play a much more important role.

Van de Beek, 23, has struggled for game-time since making the switch from Ajax last summer.

The Dutch midfielder has managed to be named in just three of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Premier League starting teams, prompting suggestions the playmaker may not have a long-term future at Old Trafford.

However, according to Eurosport’s report, that is not the case and the 23-year-old, along with Mejbri and Hugill can also expect to be awarded many more opportunities to impress.

These reports come off the back of suggestions World Cup winner Paul Pogba remains dead-set on a move away, with Real Madrid and Juventus frontrunners to sign him.
