Exclusive: Contrary to reports, Man United have not expressed interest in signing Facundo Medina

Manchester United are not one of the clubs looking to sign the highly-rated RC Lens defender Facundo Medina.

Medina, 21, joined RC Lens a little over six-months ago after making a £3.15m switch from Club Atletico Talleres, as per Transfermarkt.

Despite joining during last summer’s transfer window, the talented Argentinian has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s most highly-rated defenders.

Medina, who plays as a left-footed centre-back, has been named in 13 of his side’s senior matches and has had a huge hand in the newly-promoted side climbing to 9th in the Ligue 1 table.

In light of the young South American’s impressive form, there have been recent reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils are interested in acquiring his services.

However, despite the links coming out of Europe’s media, StrettyNews understands that the situation between RC Lens and United for Medina is no where near as advanced as previously reported.

In fact, we understand that there has been no contact between the two clubs at all.

A source close to the player has revealed to us that Medina has not been scouted by United’s recruitment team, nor has any contact been made to ask about the 21-year-old’s availability.

However, it has also been revealed to us that despite United having no interest in the young defender, there are other top Premier League clubs who do remain keen.

We understand that several top six clubs in England’s top-flight have recently made an enquiry to RC Lens about the defender and are continuing to monitor his performances going into the second-half of the season.
