Opinion: Tough draw for United in the Europa League

Manchester United face Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

There’s no denying this is a tough draw for the Reds, and it would have to be that way after dropping out of the Champions League last week, wouldn’t it?

Hopefully fans will be allowed to travel because San Sebastian is a good host location for United fans looking to have a good time and cheer on the Reds.

Real Sociedad are currently top of La Liga and the fixtures means there will be a reunion with Adnan Januzaj as well.

Looking back at the Europa League draw full, Sociedad are one of the best opponents we could have drawn, and the response needs to be to meet this game head on.

We’ve got the attacking players to hurt any team left in the competition, so Solskjaer needs to address the problems we face on a weekly basis in defence. It won’t be easy and Sociedad have plenty of players who can take advantage of defensive mistakes.

David Silva will be up for the tie no doubt. The Spaniard joined Sociedad in the summer after spending years at Man City, and should go down as the best player they’ve ever had…

We’ve played Sociedad twice before — in the 2013/14 Champions League group stage — while under David Moyes, who went on to manage the La Liga outfit after getting the sack at Old Trafford. United won 1-0 at home before a goalless draw in Spain.

A number of United fans have reacted to the draw on Twitter, as seen below:

A mixed reaction above and I think Solskjaer will be cautious going into the game. He would be stupid to underestimate them considering they are top of La Liga!

Believe.
