The referee pointed to the penalty spot but Gary Neville on co-commentary for Sky Sports warned that it looked offside.

The former Manchester United captain was right after Rashford received the ball in an offside position.

United did well to keep City quiet in the first half and I think we can be the happiest of the two teams.

City are there for the taking, but United need to be careful not to open up with Kevin De Bruyne lurking around the pitch.

However, we can’t complain about the decision from VAR.

City would have been up in arms had the penalty been allowed only for them to concede the opening goal.

That would have been fun.
