Independent fan group The Red Army raise funds for 1,000 footballs to be distributed across Greater Manchester by the Foundation.
As part of its Santa’s Red Helpers Christmas campaign, Manchester United Foundation and independent fan group The Red Army (TRA) have teamed up to provide over 1,000 club-branded footballs as gifts to children across Greater Manchester.
Funds for the balls were provided by donations from TRA members and the Foundation will provide logistics for delivery of the balls.
Marcus Rashford applauds the fans’ fundraising efforts.
“This is a wonderful gesture from The Red Army,” Rashford said. “Kind acts like this can make such a positive difference across society. I hope that this inspires others to look for ways that they can help across those less fortunate this Christmas.”

Rashford has done a lot of work off the pitch to help those most vulnerable over the past year, and he spoke to Stretty News about his campaign to end child food poverty in the UK.
TRA claim Rashford inspired this fantastic gesture because 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for everybody, but the COVID-19 pandemic has hit some of the more disadvantaged areas of the community hard.
It’s great to see fan groups and the Foundation come together during a time of need to help the local community.
Everyone deserves a happy Christmas after all.
A TRA spokesperson said: “Our members really wanted to help in any way they could and we’d like to thank everyone who generously donated and made it possible.
“It’s fantastic to know that 1,000 children will benefit from this and hopefully they can join us inside Old Trafford one day.
“We’re honoured and proud to work alongside Manchester United Foundation to make this happen and thank you to Marcus Rashford for the inspiration.”
