Why Anthony Martial left Man United training ground after just 11 minutes

Anthony Martial reported to Manchester United’s training ground on Monday morning but was sent home shortly after.

The Frenchman was omitted from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad that dramatically defeated Southampton at St Mary’s.

Solskjaer confirmed post-match that Martial travelled to the South coast but was forced to remain in the hotel overnight on Sunday with illness.

And according to the Manchester Evening News, the 24-year-old was sent home from United’s Carrington complex on Monday after 11 minutes because he was still deemed unfit to train.

Martial’s illness makes him a huge doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League group stage game against Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.

The Reds will qualify to the knockout stages if they avoid defeat against the French Champions but may be without their main centre-forward.

However, Edinson Cavani is in line to take Martial’s place regardless of his fitness.

Cavani inspired a superb second-half United comeback against Southampton and will be desperate to perform against his former side in the key European fixture.
