Dan James addresses speculation surrounding Man United future

Manchester United winger Dan James has opened up about the speculation surrounding his future with the Reds.

James, 23, joined United from Championship side Swansea last summer in a transfer which cost the Reds £13m, as per Transfermarkt.

Despite a hugely successful debut against Chelsea in the Premier League in a game which saw the Welshman score his new side’s fourth goal of the game, James has gone on to struggle for form for large parts of the last 12-months.

The 23-year-old has managed to be directly involved in just 11 goals from 51 appearances, although, a recent superb international performance saw James score and assist for Wales against Finland which prompted suggestions his form could be back on the up.

The United winger scored a rocket of a strike to double Wales lead in the Nations League earlier this week, before setting another up.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the international match, James was quick to address the continued speculation surrounding his United future, he said: “I wouldn’t say it’s a release [scoring for Wales].

“Man United is my club and I love it there. Whether I am playing or not, I’m proud, as proud as I am to play for Wales.

“There are obviously times where I played a lot last season. I may not have played as much this season, but I am sticking in there and always in and around it.

“I feel really good at the moment. When I do play, I give my all. I bought into everything we wanted to do and thankfully I got that goal and assist.”

James, who has now returned back to his domestic club will be hoping he can be named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad to face West Brom in the Premier League tomorrow evening.
