Fabrizio Romano rules out Manchester United move for Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico

Nicolas Tagliafico could be set to remain at Ajax this summer despite Manchester United lining him up as a possible alternative to FC Porto left-back Alex Telles, according to reports.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be in the market for a new left-back as he is presumably keen to keep Luke Shaw on his toes with a new addition.

Signing another left-back could be good news for Brandon Williams though, as it will likely mean less games for the youngster.

The media linked us heavily to Sergio Reguilon before he left Real Madrid for Tottenham with Gareth Bale earlier this month.

That saw United move onto Porto’s Telles.

However, according to The Sun, United are keeping their options open by registering initial interest in Tagliafico. The Argentina international has 2 years left on his contract and is available for £23m.

While AS Argentina claims that United ‘activate interest’ in Tagliafico, with competition also coming from PSG.

In the Netherlands, De Telegraaf now claims the Dutch side are increasingly confident of keeping the defender.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has always said that United have two left-backs that they feel they could sign this summer, including Telles.

“Slow deal, but talks on,” Romano told one Twitter user this morning before telling another user that Tagliafico is not the other left-back target United are swarming.

We’ll keep you updated but it sounds like we can remove Tagliafico off our watch list.
