Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues high praise for Dean Henderson in Crystal Palace starting hint

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dropped a major hint that goalkeeper Dean Henderson could get the nod against Crystal Palace next weekend over David De Gea after issuing some high praise in light of his performance against Aston Villa yesterday.

Henderson, 23, rejoined the Reds after spending the last two seasons out on loan with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United in a spell which saw him help the Blades secure promotion and go onto climb to a top-half Premier League finish last season.

The talented goalkeeper recently put pen-to-paper and signed a new bumper five year deal with the Reds, as per Sky Sports and after earning some high praise from his manager after yesterday’s pre-season friendly against Aston Villa, the Englishman could be set for a Premier League start next weekend.

United faced Dean Smith’s Aston Villa in a pre-season warm-up due to the Reds’ Premier League campaign being delayed by one week due to their participation in the latter stages of last season’s Europa League.

Despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat, Solskjaer was quick to highlight his goalkeeper’s performance, speaking live on MUTV as quoted by The Mirror the Norwegian said: There were some positives.

“I thought Deano [Henderson] showed his authority back there and he played like a proper Man United goalkeeper.

“Donny was maybe the biggest plus in the outfield. He’s such a finder of space and he creates time for himself with his timing and movement.

“I was very happy with his performance.”

Henderson will hoping he did enough to impress his manager as the Reds now prepare for their first competitive game back in the new 2020-21 season against Crystal Palace next Saturday.

We predicted how we expect to see Solskjaer line his tricky Reds up next weekend earlier this week in a starting line-up which sees Henderson get the nod over De Gea.
