Fred ends speculation over Manchester United exit

Fred has been linked with a loan move to Galatasaray this summer (via Daily Mail) but the midfielder wants to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place.

“I want to stay here — that’s my desire,” the Brazil international told FourFourTwo. “I don’t want to leave. As I’ve always said, I want to be an important player and win trophies for this club.”

His commitment is also pretty clear on the pitch. Fred didn’t have the easiest of starts at Old Trafford, signing by a manager who quickly came to the conclusion he was a mistake buy, but he never gave up and last season had a campaign to positively reflect on from an individual perspective.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put his trust in Fred and gave him a role in midfield. Last season he put in some incredible displays, including one in a Manchester derby, and fans have grown fond of him.

I don’t think Fred will be getting back into the Brazil team anytime soon, but his performances must improve again if he’s to edge his way back into United’s starting eleven.

That said, with the Reds back in the Champions League, Solskjaer will need to manage his team efficiently more than ever before. It will be a challenge for everyone involved.
