Manchester United have reportedly launched a £71m bid for Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly in attempt to beat European rivals in the race to secure the defender.
The Daily Mail cite a report from Sky Sports Italia (without linking to the original story), United have launched a stunning £71m bid in an attempt to lure the highly-rated centre-back from Napoli.
Koulibaly, 28, has been linked with a move away from Napoli for the most part of the season, however, it was previously thought that Premier League rivals, Liverpool, were leading the charge to secure his signature.
Liverpool’s interest in the Senegalese talisman appears to have cooled in recent weeks, with the Premier League favourites looking to minimise their transfer spend.
However, recent reports coming out of Italy suggest that United have submitted an official bid in an attempt to beat both Liverpool and French champions Paris Saint-German to the commanding 28-year old defender’s services.
It is believed though, that the Italian side are holding out for a bid of at least £89mil for their main man.
Koulibaly has made 15 appearances in Serie A for Napoli thus far, this season and is expected to feature heavily for his side once the Italian league resumes on June 20.
