Juan Mata full of praise for Jadon Sancho amid United interest

Juan Mata was asked about whether or not Manchester United should sign Jadon Sancho in the summer.

Although he dubbed the young English winger a “great player”, who is having his best season yet at Borussia Dortmund, Mata refused to fuel more speculation and stated it’s not his responsibility to talk about potential transfers.

Speaking on his Instagram live as part of the Common Goal coronavirus fund, he said (quotes from The Standard): “What do you want me to say? We all know he’s a great player. He’s having a fantastic season at Dortmund.

“But it’s not my responsibility to speak about those things. I like him as a player but I cannot reply to that.”

Mata was later joined on the live stream by Sancho’s teammate Mats Hummels — also part of the Common Goal initiative — and he agreed with the United midfielder’s stance on discussing potential deals.

“I was listening to you talking about Sancho! I understand that.”

United remain the favourites to sign the talented England international and we think he could take up the #7 shirt next season.

Sancho is a star in the making, an England international and someone who can lift fans off their seats. He already sounds like a Manchester United player.

If a deal is agreed between the two clubs this summer, the former Man City academy player will join an attack that already consists of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. Surely that would be one of the most exciting attacking line-ups in Europe?
