Birmingham reject £20m offer from Man Utd for talented 16-year-old

Manchester United have had a £20m bid for Birmingham’s 16-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham rejected and ESPN claims a deal is unlikely to be reached on deadline day.

This is the second bid placed by Man Utd that has been rejected in the past 24 hours, with Sky Sports claiming the club is considering a second offer for Bournemouth striker Josh King.

United are thought to be at the front of the queue for Bellingham but his club want more than the offer on the table. Sound familiar?

The deal was apparently structured by paying £8.5m up front followed by a series of add-ons.

However, Ed Woodward the board will be looking over their shoulders now that Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are two of the other clubs also interested in Bellingham.

Rochdale’s Luke Matheson is another player who supposedly sprung onto United’s radar this month, as per ESPN, but the 17-year-old is at Wolves ahead of a medical after a deal was agreed for around £1m.
