David Ornstein: Man Utd make approach to sign AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek

Manchester United have made an approach to sign AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek this month.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate for attacking reinforcements with just ten days left of the January transfer window.

Marcus Rashford’s long-term injury combined with the failure to sign a replacement for Romelu Lukaku this summer means the United boss is completely bereft of striking options.

And according to David Ornstein of the Athletic, the Reds made an enquiry over 24-year-old Piatek before Rashford’s injury two weeks ago.

The journalist was speaking in his podcast with Mark Chapman and claimed Solskjaer has identified the Poland international as a possible target.

As reported by the Metro, Piatek signed for Milan for €35m last year after scoring 19 goals in 21 games for Genoa.

But Piatek has scored just 4 Serie A goals this season and it is believed Milan would be willing to let him go this month with a number of clubs linked to the striker.

Ornstein is well respected for his information on transfers and this looks like a realistic option for United with such a short space of time remaining to complete deals this month.
