Ajax stance on Van de Beek revealed in Dutch report amid Man Utd links

It sounds like Manchester United have a difficult task on their hands to land Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek in January.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly looking to add midfield reinforcements to his Man Utd squad this month and ESPN claims Dutch international Van de Beek is a transfer target.

Van de Beek played a key role in Ajax’s memorable run to last season’s Champions League semi-final and it has been claimed via AD Sportswereld that Real Madrid were in talks over a deal in the summer.

It is understood that United are aware of Madrid’s interest and they are prepared to beat the La Liga giants to his signature.

United currently lack a creative spark in midfield and Solskjaer has been given a fresh injury blow with Paul Pogba undergoing an ankle operation earlier this week, as reported by Sky Sports.

There are other players closer to home, such as James Maddison and Jack Grealish, who would be welcome additions but the prospect of landing Van de Beek is an exciting one.

However, the AD Sportswereld report suggests Van de Beek has previously stated that he does not want to leave Ajax midway through the season. It also states that the Dutch club will not let any key players leave this month.

This could drag on and become a tiresome transfer saga.
