Video: Man Utd target Haaland nets 8th CL goal of the season

Red Bull Salzburg hitman Erling Haaland scored his eight Champions League goal of the season last night and there’s still one game left to play in the group stages.

That’s an incredible tally — matching Eden Hazard’s all-time record — with the latest finish coming in RB Salzburg’s clash against Genk.

Haaland also became the first teenager in the history of the European Cup/UEFA Champions League to score in five consecutive appearances in the competition, which is remarkable given it’s his first season playing on the prestigious stage.

Three points were already in the bag when Haaland increased the Austrian outfit’s lead. The goal came with four minutes of normal time left on the clock as the Norwegian striker picked up the ball in a good position to poke the ball into the back of the net.

According to The Times (subscription required), United are looking to sign the prolific goalscorer in the January transfer window.

He has been scoring goals for fun this season and it’s no surprise to see him tipped for a big move in the near future. If United don’t sign him in January there will be more competition for his signature in the summer.

Haaland has the physicality to make it in the Premier League.
