Manchester United are reportedly watching Benjamin Sesko.

The Red Devils could be in the market for a new centre-forward if Cristiano Ronaldo decides to leave this summer. Reports suggest the 37-year-old could leave Old Trafford on loan, granted he agrees to extend his United contract by a further year.

One name doing the rounds is Benjamin Sesko.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are ‘well informed’ when it comes to the 19-year-old, although there has not been any form of advanced discussions with Red Bull Salzburg over a possible deal.

Sesko’s 6ft 4in frame holds comparisons to that of former Ajax striker Sebastian Haller, who was an incredibly important player for Ten Hag, with 34 goals in 42 appearances last season.

Romano tweeted: “Manchester United are well informed on Salzburg talented Benjamin Sesko. He’s one of the players monitored, considered ‘really talented’ – but it’s not imminent or advanced deal as of now. Man Utd are aware of Sesko as other clubs are informed too, including Newcastle.”

This is a player that may have been put on the club’s radar following Ralf Rangnick’s brief spell at the club, however, Erik ten Hag has been known for making shrewd signings during his time at Ajax.

Even though Slovenian only made his debut for Salzburg in 2021, he has already attracted interest from Newcastle United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur. It’s clear he is quickly making a name for himself in the Austrian Bundesliga after coming through their amazing youth system.

Sesko scored 10 goals and registered one assist in 36 games last season across all competitions for Salzburg, where he has become a replacement for Erling Haaland.
