Tahith Chong agent issues contract warning to Man Utd as Juventus rumours circulate

Tahith Chong’s agent has rather bullishly warned Man Utd that they will consider offers from elsewhere if the club fails to present suitable terms to the Dutch youngster.

Chong has been given plenty of opportunities under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but doesn’t look quite ready to hold down a place in the team, which makes his agent coming out suggesting their terms must be met quite laughable.

The 19-year-old has featured twice in the Premier League this season but is yet to agree a new deal at Old Trafford — his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Reports from the Daily Mail earlier linked Chong to Juventus on a free transfer, and the player’s agent, Erkan Alkan, has warned that other offers could be considered.

“It is true that top clubs keep an eye on the situation around Tahith,” Alkan told Voetbal International, quite proudly.

“But it’s still early in the season. We are quietly waiting to see what United will come up with or else we will see what is best for Tahith’s development next summer.”

Speaking earlier in the week (via ManUtd.com) Chong expressed his delight at being involved with the senior set-up at United.

“All of us really, just there now, are having a lot of learning curves and are gaining a lot of experience up to now.

“It has been amazing really and, just thinking about it, being a first-team player, is something you dream about.

“Training is a different level as well now. Definitely, but training and the games are tougher, stuff like this, as you progress, but you keep training and keep playing games and you’ll get there.”

Chong is one of the brighter players coming through United’s rankers, and to lose him without giving him more time to blossom could be a mistake.
