Man Utd transfer news: Zidane wants €70m-rated midfield maestro

Zinedine Zidane is reportedly eager to sign Marco Verratti at his next club amid links with Manchester United.

A report from AS recently linked Zidane strongly with the United job as he wants to manage in the Premier League, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently caretaker manager until the season concludes.

If Zidane feels he is a possible candidate for the job, the former Real Madrid manager will be pleased to see so many of United’s attacking players perform again in recent weeks, especially with fellow compatriot Paul Pogba bossing the final third in games.

Moreover, the Frenchman may already be planning his transfers, with Don Balon claiming he is interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Verratti.

According to Transfermarkt, Verratti is currently worth €70 million.

This is one of the best midfielders in the world we’re talking about… He would settle quickly in the Premier League if his performances against Liverpool in the Champions League group stages are anything to go by.

Verratti would be an upgrade on all of United’s midfielders – perhaps bar Pogba – but the pair could build on something special in the middle of the park under Zidane or whoever gets the job.

Though, it must be stated that this reported interest in Verratti is from Zidane. Not United as a club so excitement should be restrained on that note.

The Don Balon piece also links Zidane with a move to Bayern Munich, so he could arrive in the Bundesliga instead and take Verratti with him.
