Manchester United reportedly looks set to abandon their pursuit of another midfield signing in this transfer window as they’re expected to keep hold of Marouane Fellaini.
The Guardian reports that Fellaini is set to make a U-turn on his Old Trafford future and sign a new contract with the club despite coming within days of his current deal.
United had been linked with alternative options to Fellaini with his balance very much in the air, with the Daily Mail only recently stating that £80 million-rated Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic remained a player on their transfer target list.

The Serbia international would, without question, have been seen as a major upgrade on the Belgian, but Manchester Evening News reporter James Robson now claims developments with the Fellaini contract renewal means another midfield signing – with Fred already a United player – now looks unlikely.
Fellaini deal is likely to end United’s search for a second midfielder this summer.

Arsenal fans are delighted with the news because it means Unai Emery won’t be subjecting them to Fellaini cameos next season.
