Ronaldo to Man Utd: Real Madrid star set for ‘crunch talks’ with new manager

Cristiano Ronaldo has held talks with new Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui over his future at the club.

The Portuguese plunged his future into doubt after referring to the La Liga giants in the past tense following their Champions League final win over Liverpool, when Gareth Bale came on as a substitute and scored a match-winning brace.

Bale is another Real Madrid star whose future remains uncertain after revealing his disappointment at being benched for big games. The Wales superstar is now firmly being linked with a move to Old Trafford, again, like Ronaldo.

Interestingly, the same report came from Don Balon this morning on Bale.

United clearly won’t sign both players, but either of them would provide a huge boost to Jose Mourinho’s attack next season.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Lopetegui has already reached out to Ronaldo to let the Portugal star know he is a key part of his plans at the club.

Ronaldo was superb again last season, scoring an incredible 44 goals across all competitions.

The reports say the forward has made it clear that his focus is only on the World Cup at present as he looks for more success with Portugal. They’ve already collected four points from their first two games — 3-3 vs Spain and 1-0 vs Morocco — with all four goals coming from Ronaldo.

Since leaving Old Trafford in 2009, Ronaldo has gone on to win the Ballon d’Or on an unprecedented five occasions.

Ronaldo may well wait to see what Real Madrid do in the transfer market this summer before making his intentions for the future clear.

  1. As good as he is he is not the future of any Club, his pressure to leave United for Madrid was relentless is he applying as much to come back? NO. Just idle threats for which Madrid are calling his bluff this time. Another too immersed in himself to have any loyalty to United.
