De Gea to become world’s best paid goalkeeper at Man Utd

According to Marca, David de Gea will become the highest paid goalkeeper in the world after finding an agreement to renew his contract with Manchester United.

The report claims De Gea will earn €21 million gross for each of the five seasons that he will be tied down for — unless long-term admirers Real Madrid issue a hefty offering during that time.

In order words, Los Blancos will need to pay a lot more to take De Gea from United and we’re happy about that. It should scare them off for at least another year or two.

Marca also say De Gea has been in talks with United since early 2018 and manager Jose Mourinho had every confidence an agreement would be reached.

Their report goes on to suggest the bases on a renewal were agreed on when both parties initially sat down last April, but it took De Gea’s signature to tie the deal.

This is the commitment we wanted to avoid another summer of Real Madrid speculation. We’re all sick and tired of reading and writing about it.

Now, De Gea can go and try enjoy the World Cup.
