Alexander-Arnold’s grandmother was referred to in a legendary boss’ autobiography as his “first steady girlfriend”.

The pair – who dated as Glasgow teens – broke up and Alexander-Arnold’s grandmother Doreen Carling moved to New York, where she got married.
That meant Alexander-Arnold, who was born in Liverpool, could have played for the USA.
Alexander-Arnold’s uncle, John Alexander, also acted as a long-serving club secretary at United.
