Altay Bayindir is poised to be one of Manchester United’s first outgoings of the summer when he departs for his home country.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, the out-of-favour shot-stopper has an agreement in principle with Besiktas to join them ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign.

United prepare to facilitate Bayindir’s move to Besiktas

Fanatik adds that United are likely to sign off on the deal themselves, given Bayindir is the second choice to Senne Lammens and was in line to be replaced himself in the coming months.

The 28-year-old, who signed for United from Fenerbahce in a £4.3 million switch in 2023, did get a brief taste of being the No.1 at the beginning of the campaign, when Ruben Amorim demoted Andre Onana following his lacklustre end to 2023/2024.

In the six starts Bayindir made this term, he conceded 11 goals and United lost three times while failing to keep a clean sheet in any of the outings.

How Bayindir has fared as of late

Lammens had arrived at Old Trafford during Bayindir’s spell after signing on deadline day, but Amorim opted against utilising him for the first few matches, instead waiting until October 4 to grant him his debut in a 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Since then, the Turkey international has not played once; Darren Fletcher chose to keep Lammens between the sticks for United’s FA Cup clash at home to Brighton and Hove Albion in January, which saw the Reds exit the competition at the earliest stage.

That same month, Bayindir held talks with Besiktas regarding a potential winter transfer, until United closed off any prospect of a mid-season departure due to their lack of depth after Onana joined Trabzonspor.
