Harry Maguire is reportedly prepared to take a £90,000 pay cut on his £190,000-a-week wages in order to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer (iNews).

That’s because, as things stand, the centre-half will be leaving Manchester United upon the expiration of his contract in June.

Harry Maguire’s contract talks: The state of play

However, reports have suggested that neither Maguire nor the club hierarchy want that to be the end of his Red Devils tenure. Instead, they’re working to find ways to extend his United career beyond the seven-year mark.

The 33-year-old has continued to be an integral figure this campaign – even amidst some frustrating injury setbacks.

He has particularly found his form since Michael Carrick took the reins and trusted him from the get-go, with Maguire starting every single game of the interim manager’s reign thus far.

For United’s triumphant victory against Premier League leaders Arsenal in January, Maguire was awarded the Man of the Match award following his ‘colossal’ display, during which the Gunners suffered their first defeat on home soil in 2025/2026.

Will Maguire continue enjoying a prominent role until May?

It remains to be seen what kind of role the Sheffield-born star will play when both Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez are also available, though.

The latter is currently unavailable due to a calf injury, while De Ligt has been sidelined since November. At no point this season have all three defenders been fit at the same time.

Either way, having such a seasoned professional like Maguire around will only be beneficial next term, when United will be hoping to compete on all fronts and in the Champions League for the first time since 2024.
