Not Sesko: David Moyes can’t help but praise ‘bloody brilliant’ Man Utd man who was ‘the best player’

BRIGHTON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 31: David Moyes, Manager of Everton, applauds the fans following the team's draw in the Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton at Amex Stadium on January 31, 2026 in Brighton, England.

David Moyes singled out Senne Lammens for praise following his stalwart display between the sticks against Everton.

While Benjamin Sesko was the match-winner on Merseyside for Manchester United, his efforts would’ve been rendered futile had the Toffees been able to capitalise on one of their host of chances.

How Lammens fared vs the Toffees

Yet, Lammens stood tall and strong to keep Everton at bay for the full 90 minutes, eventually sealing United’s first away clean sheet in the league for 11 months.

He was made to work for it, too, and not least because he was being absolutely swarmed by the Blues for every set-piece – so much so that Kobbie Mainoo took to Instagram at full-time to mock Everton’s corner tactics.

As per WhoScored, Lammens recorded a hugely impressive four saves, two high claims and two balls collected, earning himself a 7.86 rating on their system, as well as the Premier League’s Man of the Match award.

With the Belgian in net, United have tasted defeat only twice and have been on the winning side in 11 matches. This includes triumphs over Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal, the latter of which marked the Gunners’ first home loss of the entire campaign.

Post-match, Moyes addressed the media in the aftermath of such a hard-fought battle.

Moyes said of Lammens: “He was bloody brilliant for them tonight. The goalie, the save he made from Michael Keane, the way he dealt with the corner kicks, you know, there was a huge amount of pressure on them, and we hoped we would’ve got a nick on one of them.”

He continued: “I thought their goalkeeper played really well tonight. For me, he was the best player for them tonight.”

  1. As well as our goalkeeperour back 4 and Kobie Mainoo were excellent. The biased commentary on sky still continues.Everton behaved like bully boys and how Tarkowski stayed on the field was ridiculous.Referee was woefully weak.United stood up well to it all

  2. The mauling at corners is just terrible. It ois time the epl does something against this . It has nothing to do with soccer, more assault. Shows to me that coaches who want this kind of tactics are just bad coaches and should be releaved from soccer. they show that they can’t coach

  3. Going to obstruct the keeper is cheating. It is not football. Players should watch the ball and go for the ball. Agree rules need to change. Terrible to watch and as said poor coaching.

  4. The goalmouth crowding was ridiculous. The ref missed several fouls as far as I could see. I agree that there needs to be a new rule to stop the goalmouth bullying (and time-wasting) – it’s not football.

    How about this …

Before a corner is taken, no attacking player is permitted inside the six-yard box. In practice, there might still be pushing at the six yard line, and no doubt attackers will run toward the goal as soon as the ball is in play, but at least the goalkeeper isn’t being physically battered and fouls should be easier to spot.

The same rule could be used for free kicks but offside also applies in that case, so defenders can still push up when the free kick is taken more than six yards from the goal line.
