As well as Mainoo: Man Utd fan-favourite makes seismic U-turn on his future after recently committing future to Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes will reportedly be ready to pull the curtains on his Manchester United tenure at the end of the season.

The Old Trafford faithful will be well aware that their skipper turned down an eye-watering proposal, worth £200 million over a three-year span, from Al-Hilal earlier this summer, but he certainly took his time to consider the offer.

His agent, Miguel Pinho, flew to Saudi Arabia to engage in talks with the club whilst Fernandes carefully mulled over the transfer. Eventually, he decided to stay put in M16, but for how much longer?

MailSport claims the United fan-favourite remains a firm target for Saudi sides, as well as teams in MLS and some of Europe’s top leagues.

In order to avoid any disturbance to his anticipated World Cup call-up next year, he is ready to put his head down and oversee another stellar personal campaign for the Red Devils. Then, it’s thought that conversations will again be held to gauge whether to embark on a new venture, having been at United since January 2020.

By the time 2025/2026 draws to a close, Fernandes will have around 12 months left on his contract. However, the board will have the option of activating a one-year extension, which they’re likely to do to protect his resale value.

Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo to leave?

Unwanted speculation over the integral playmaker’s future comes amid similar news involving Kobbie Mainoo, who’s debating a late summer exit from United after being an unused substitute for the opening two matches of the term.

Mainoo has struggled to cement a starting spot since Ruben Amorim took the reins, and is unwilling to see his career fall stagnant, even if the solution means parting ways with his boyhood club much sooner than he’d hoped.
