Kobbie Mainoo would reportedly consider leaving Manchester United in the final days of the transfer window.
It mightn’t come as the most shocking of surprises to fans right now, but it seems almost unfathomable when you think back to last year’s FA Cup final, in which he scored and played an influential role in the Reds’ securing their triumph over Manchester City.
Fast-forward to 2025/2026, however, and Mainoo has been an unused substitute for the first two matches of the season under Ruben Amorim, prompting widespread concerns over whether he simply doesn’t fit into the coach’s newly-implemented system.
Ruben Amorim issues concerning Kobbie Mainoo admission post-Fulham

After United’s 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage on Sunday, Amorim admitted to the press post-match that Mainoo was ‘fighting’ with his skipper Bruno Fernandes for a starting spot. Amorim said: “He’s fighting for the position now with Bruno. I let Mason Mount stay there because we want to score a goal. When I changed, I felt the team needed to return to one holding midfielder near Bruno. He just needs to fight for the position with Bruno.”
Today, talkSPORT has claimed the 20-year-old has opened the door to a potential Old Trafford departure, as he looks to ensure his career isn’t falling stagnant at his boyhood club.
Where could Mainoo end up if he leaves United?
Assuming he was indeed made available for sale, the midfielder wouldn’t be short of suitors.
Chelsea are said to be longtime admirers of Mainoo, whilst Tottenham Hotspur made an enquiry over his availability earlier in the summer.
Any fee United receive from Mainoo’s prospective sale would generate pure profit and a healthy PSR boost, given he’s a product of Carrington and has spent his entire career on their books.

Mainoo should leave MU as the head coach selection is a problematic. If RA can put Mount with Bruno , so he can also played Mainoo too. But then RA opt for Ugarte who i think Mainoo ball control and link play with his team mates is much better. RA say many reasons and now he said Mainoo have to fight with Bruno for a place which is hard as RA prefer to play the captain. So Mainoo will have to leave the club if he want more game times and eventually will be a great loss of talented youngster to MU.
Based on current form Mainoo should play instead of Fernandez if it is a choice between the two. A number of ex players who are still around the training sessions rate Mainoo as the brightest prospect at the club for many years. They would be nuts to sell him, especially given how the team plays at present.
This useless system an pattern of amorin is really boring one, why can’t change different system formation like 4 3 3,4 2 3 1 or even,4 1 4 1.. but he rely only one system which is not suited our team an player
There we go again. I’m waiting for RA to say that Mainoo’s trainging and attitude is not fitting in his system. While all along it is his attitude andlack of coaching is the real problem
Every single man u coach is a big problem for us,, man u is going nowhere this season with this tactic playing style,, how can you buy new striker and bench him and u also bench maino and sub amad and put dalot how is this going to work out, the coach need to leave united
Mainoo should stay. He is the option to Bruno and Bruno is hopeless as a CM so it is only a question of time!
He’s only 19 so slowing down his development is probably a positive, so even if he plays less for one year, next year Bruno will be gone.
If I’m opportune to advise RA then I will say he sells Bruno to Saudi Arabia then use the money 💰 to get Adam from crystal palace.
if RA is not relieved of his duties, man utd will end up at the bottom half of the table again this season. he is hellbent on playing players out of position and making some senseless excuses instead of coming out to admit his own short coming and that he is not good enough for man utd. mainoo is currently better than Bruno, ugarte and casemiro as it stands now in creativity at man utd. amorim should be sacked now the season is still redeemable.
