Fabrizio Romano sheds some light on the ongoing negotiations between Manchester United and RB Leipzig to finalise the transfer of Benjamin Sesko.
The Premier League giants were after several centre-forwards this summer, but spent more than a month occupied with the Bryan Mbeumo deal, which saw them miss out on several targets.
After sealing a deal with Brentford for the Cameroonian winger, the Reds prioritised the signing of a new striker who can be an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund.
Man Utd prevail in Benjamin Sesko race
With several names on Jason Wilcox’s shortlist no longer available, Man Utd identified Sesko as their primary target.
Nevertheless, the 22-year-old had also attracted the interest of Newcastle who launched a bid worth €80m plus €10m.
But while Leipzig were perhaps inclined to accept, the player remained reluctant, holding on for a concrete approach from Man United, which didn’t take too long to arrive.

On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported that Man Utd submitted a formal bid worth €75m plus €10m. While this offer is lower than Newcastle’s, INEOS have been able to count on the player’s desire to join them. Moreover, reports on Wednesday morning, including one from David Ornstein, revealed that United have found an agreement with Sesko and his entourage on personal terms.
On Wednesday afternoon, Romano confirmed on this X account that Man Utd and Leipzig are still negotiating, as they finalise their agreement as soon as possible.

Man United & Leipzig ironing out Sesko deal
The Italian journalist reveals that the remaining issues that are being sorted out are the fee package and add-ons. Once these knots are untied, a full accord will be reached.
In the meantime, Sesko will be training on his own, while waiting for the green light to fly to Manchester and sign for the Red Devils. Therefore, all signs point out that the transfer is now imminent.
The Slovenian would be United’s third signing for the summer after Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo, so the next objective will likely be recruiting a new midfielder or a goalkeeper.

I have to laugh at INEOS saying they have missed out on other targets due to the length of time it took to get Mbeumo. They do realise they can go for more than one transfer at a time lol.😂.
Maybe they can’t focus on more than one transfer at a time. We still can’t get rid of the out going personnel. Embarrassing for INEOS.
Sarcasm and Cynicism is very sad. I take a different view and give the whole management team thanks for all their efforts and I like them want the club to succeed.
But you know there’s no money on ground to do that,I like their strategy on making decisions.
Nowt has changed in our one-at-a-time-please approach and that’s because the glazers are still in charge
EMBARRASSING? WHAT TEAM DO YOU ACTUALLY COACH ?? LOL EMBARRASING IS WHAT ETH DID TO PUT MAN UTD IN THIS POSITION IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE ARE IN THIS POSITION IS BECUSE OF THE MAYHEM HE DID AT MAN UTD. THANK GOD WE HAVE A MANAGER THAT KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING NOW. UNITED WE STAND !!
Did ETH get his first team targets?? Casemiro at that age buy for 50 mil plus was a Panick buy.
Releasing de gea for Onana was a Panick buy
Marzoui at united??? Lol
Are we buying players or potatoes to rot??
We can’t put blame on ETH
NO MANAGERS GOT THE PLAYERS WE ACTUALLY NEEDED
MOURINHO PLEADED AT HIS TIME TO SELL RASHFORD AND POGBA. Did we listen??
Mourinho was actually right abt his analysis of Man Utd. If only we had listened to him, and backed him things would be different
All blame must be put to previous owner n management .from stupid CEO, . With no sporting director available n with owner that not even care about football matters . All this is the reason why the new regime of management is facing .and they did the best to change it .it may take some time to bring back the same man Utd in SAF regime .
Changes are made now and improvement is crystal clear . This year will be better than last season
