“Agreement done” – Sky journalist shares huge update on Man United’s ‘second statement signing’

Manchester United have reportedly made a significant step in their attempts to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old is coming off a sensational campaign, scoring 20 goals and providing his teammates with 8 assists in his 38 Premier League appearances.

After six years at the Gletch Community Stadium, it is past time for the Cameroonian to move to bigger things.

Despite interest from Champions League participants Arsenal and Newcastle, Mbeumo has chosen Man United as his preferred destination, much to the delight of the Old Trafford faithful.

The winger is thus willing to follow the footsteps of Matheus Cunha, another spectacular Premier League star who was happy to pick the Red Devils despite the lack of European football next season.

Nevertheless, Man Utd wouldn’t want to waste any time on this front, as it could open the door for another suitor to overtake them in the race for the Troyes youth product.

According to Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg, United have already struck an agreement with Mbeumo and his agents over personal terms, and are determined to open talks with Brentford as soon as possible.

“Manchester United want to start negotiations with Brentford shortly in order to finalise the deal for Bryan Mbeumo,” posted the German transfer market insider on his X account.

Plettenberg also revealed how Man Utd are confident they can reach he finish line first, while describing Mbeumo as their ‘second statement’ signing after landing Cunha.

“The player has already given his approval. Verbal agreement is done. MUFC are optimistic that the transfer will go through. It would be their second statement signing in attack after Matheus Cunha.”

The Cameroonian would certainly add another layer to what is shaping up to be an intriguing attacking department.

It would be interesting to see how Mbeumo and Amad Diallo would fit in the same system, given how both players are left-footed wingers who enjoy cutting from the right side. One of them could be deployed as a wingback, a position that the Ivorian is familiar with, albeit it might not necessarily be his ideal role.

  1. Great news! Cunha and Mbeumo are a significant improvement. That allows Amad to play at RWB and means it makes more sense playing Zirkzee as a ‘false-9’ in certain games.

With Bruno staying (cool!), other transfers are a bit more limited, so, based on what I know of available candidates, I’d aim for Mateta as a new striker – allegedly under £30m, PL-proven scorer, two good seasons at Palace – slightly older than ideal, but that’s the price for being PL-proven (which we desperately need).

We must get some players sold: Sancho, Rashford, Antony, Garnacho, Malacia, Hojlund, Shaw … maybe Onana, Bayindir … and possibly Casemiro and Mount but only if we can guarantee good replacements. I’d leave evaluation of Ugarte, Dalot, Dorgu and Mainoo to the end of next season.

    1. Note that Bruno hasn’t (yet) said he’s staying at United, just that Al Hilal’s offer has been rejected. He may be wanting to see if offers arrive from Europe before committing to us again. Hopefully good quality signings will persuade him that a much better Season is in prospect.🤞

    2. Please keep in mind that Onana is one of the best Keeper in EPL, only that most of our experience defenders like linderhof, Show, Evans and Dilot are not capable of starting the ball from behind, making so very difficult for skillsfull keeper to play the ball from behind with his defenders’ in some time our defenders hide instead of open up! But with Martinez, Yoro’ Delight and the skillfull big guy from Egipt all can let Onana play very easy!!! with the shacky / panicking defenders all the best Keepers will sufer the same!!

  2. Nice move. United have been proactive this summer. We should sell garnacho, sancho, antony rashford and hojlund to raise money to buy players

  3. 👏 let this go through Quickly. Add a striker, a keeper and a box to box midfielder; and we are good to start moving forward in gear.

  4. We just need a Striker,A progressive midfielder and a Goalkeeper then we are good to go next season

  5. Good prospects of proven players, need to sell and get funds to reenforce the midfield and the back.

  6. Its good to hear MU have successfully purchase Cunha and now Mbeumo ready to get in. Good purchase. Get all the unwanted or players who are not performing good to be sold as soon asap such as Sancho , Antony , Rashford , Garnarcho , Malacia , Hojlund, Shaw , both keepers if possible. We all been sold , enough bugget to buyer new palyers. Now main focal point is striker no.9 .

  7. We need to sell a lot of players as big changes are needed.
Cunha and hopefully Mbeumo deals are near. We still need a CF, Midfielder, and a Goalkeeper. Maybe a CB also.
We need to get rid of :- Malacia, Shaw, Casemiro, Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Garnacho, Onana, Hojlund , Zirkzee, and Mount. Maybe some others will be sold also to help with transfers. Mainoo and Ugarte are possibilities.
Young players from academy/under 21s should be promoted to our squad for next season.

  8. Goalkeeper, Striker, Holding Midfielder, should be signed. Sell, sell and sell Garnacho, Sancho, Rashford, Hojlund.

  9. Need keep mount when he in shape and fit he can be a good squad player. Should also consider going in for grealish after getting rid of sancho Antony rashford onana and a few others would have enough left over for gyokeres and and decent keeper. And start letting some of the youngsters to start to come through aswell as raiding some youngsters from Brazil and Argentina on cheap
