After clinching all three points in the closing stages of a truly bleak affair at Craven Cottage last Sunday evening, Manchester United will already be turning their attention to their forthcoming clash with Crystal Palace.

With every fixture now absolutely crucial in trying to salvage something from such a torrid campaign, it’s safe to say Ruben Amorim is feeling the heat a lot sooner than he’d anticipated in the Red Devils dugout.

They left West London 12th-placed in the table after defeating Fulham, yet still sit a remarkable 12 points adrift of the Champions League places after 23 matches played. In truth, a season without the unrelenting demands of a European competition may benefit Amorim throughout his first full season in M16 – even if fans are left aggrieved at missing out.

In terms of the current run awaiting United in the coming weeks, they’re games that – on paper- you’d previously expect them to win comfortably. Nowadays, such luxuries are never guaranteed. For insight into what other punters are predicting, take a look at Speltips.

Something of a bogey team in the last couple of terms, Palace have also endured a turbulent few months since 2024/2025 got underway in August. Oliver Glasner initially struggled to navigate the start of the season without prolific talisman Michael Olise, who departed Selhurst Park for European giants Bayern Munich last summer.

As it stands, only two points separate the Eagles and United heading into their contest this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur (A) – February 16

With the FA Cup fourth round delaying United’s trip to North London, it remains to be seen if Ange Postecoglou will still be in charge of the struggling Spurs when they host Amorim’s Reds in three weeks’ time.

Spurs have picked up just a single point in their last seven matches, which is nothing short of relegation form. Somewhat unbelievably, they are only eight points clear of the drop.

Everton (A) – February 22

A familiar face will grace his former club yet again when David Moyes’ Toffees welcome United to Goodison Park next month.

Whether it’s new manager bounce or simply the magic of the seasoned Scot, Everton have won two of their three matches since the managerial legend re-took the reins as Sean Dyche’s successor on January 11. He did sustain a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in his maiden outing before overseeing a 3-2 win against Spurs and 1-0 away win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
