Aston Villa consider swoop for Manchester United youngster waiting on debut

Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United youngster Harry Amass.

The young left-back has yet to make his senior debut but he was understood to be part of Erik ten Hag’s long-term plans before the Dutchman was sacked earlier this month.

Amass will soon find out whether the newly appointed head coach, Ruben Amorim, has a place for him in the team.

Villa are supposedly keen on a shock swoop for the highly-rated youngster, but we would be surprised if the Reds accepted any for his signature after being tipped to have a big future at Old Trafford.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Amass has sparked the interest of Unai Emery, who has impressed as manager at Villa Park.

It is suggested that Villa have already “submitted an offer” which seems impossible given the transfer window has yet to open and Amass is under contract until June 2027.

Villa are willing to pay €15m for the 17-year-old.

The arrival of Amorim should be a positive thing for Amass. Not only it is a fresh start, the former Sporting CP coach favours a 3-4-3 system with wing backs.

Amass has traits in both offensive and defensive departments to excel in such a system. It’s only a matter of whether he can reach the standards expected at the highest level.

Fichajes explain that United will offer an attractive development plan to convince Amass that his future is at United rather than elsewhere.

Amass could be tempted to move on unless he is given a first-team debut. He impressed during pre-season but has not featured in a competitive game, despite the fact United have been without a recognised left-back since the beginning of the season.

After joining from Watford last year, Amass has appeared for United’s U18s and the U21s.
