‘Big man’ – talkSPORT pundit harshly criticises Manchester United youngster

Troy Deeney has slammed Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho and suggested that the 20-year-old is not thick-skinned enough to play football.

Garnacho responded to criticism in the best way possible at the weekend. After a clash with a fan outside Old Trafford last week, Garnacho came off the bench to score a worldie against Leicester City.

The young forward got heckled by one fan when he was signing autographs and taking selfies before the win over PAOK.

It was a shameful act from someone looking for extra attention on TikTok and most fans reacted angrily to it on social media.

TalkSPORT pundit Troy Deeney was less than impressed by Garnacho on Sunday, though. He claims that player for a top club like United (something he knows nothing about) is going to come with big expectations and pressure.

Speaking on talkSPORT in the video below, Deeney said: “I said it last night on Match of the Day, and I’ll repeat it. It goes twofold.

“One, it says what players are like nowadays, where their skin is so thin that one gentleman can say what he wants to say and everyone sulks.

“And secondly, if he’s getting affected by that, I would say to him, just as an older pro: ‘I don’t think this football game is for you, big man’.”

What a load of rubbish.

Not only has Deeney never played for a top club, he is overlooking the fact Garnacho responded to the criticism by scoring a world class goal.

It’s extremely harsh to call out a young player for not being ‘man enough’ to play the sport, but talkSPORT as a station are known for pathetic soundbites.

If it’s not Deeney talking crap, it will be Gabby Agbonlahor.

  1. As much as I hate talk sports and their cohort, I absolutely agree with Deeney here. When Bruno explained why he did not celebrate I thought it was absolute rubbish. You’ve got the whole Stretford End singing your name, and you decide not to celebrate over the comment of one suspicious fan?? Imagine how he would react to diatribe from rival fans.
