AC Milan are preparing a move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof.
The future of Lindelof at Old Trafford is a complicated one because he has been pushed further down the pecking order this season.
Lindelof, 30, is out of contract in the summer and he has yet to be offered an extension.
According to Caught Offside, AC Milan are ‘seriously interested’ in Lindelof as they value his experience.
The Italian giants have been tipped to make an approach in January when Lindelof will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs.
It is almost eight years since he joined United from Benfica, but Lindelof has failed to cement a starting berth in that time. He has still managed to make 266 appearances for the Reds, with the latest coming on Thursday night when he started alongside Jonny Evans against PAOK.
Lindelof has played under several managers at United, including Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag. He will get a chance to impress Ruben Amorim as head coach, but it sounds like his days are numbered at Old Trafford.
Time for Victor Lindelof to leave Manchester United
While Lindelof doesn’t possess the qualities of a top class centre-back, the former Benfica man has been a good servant at Old Trafford.
But that doesn’t change the fact 2025 could be his year to move on.
Lindelof was pushed further down the pecking order in the summer when Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro signed for United. And there is a fear matters could be made worse in the future if the Reds continue their pursuit of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
However, being a free agent could help attract more clubs to Lindelof.
Turkish outfit Fenerbahce were linked with a move in the summer but it never materialised.
